Final event of the LCiP project & LCiP Awards Portugal 2016
On June 23, the final event of LCIP project took place marking the conclusion of this international project and the launch of the Life Cycle Approaches and Circular Economy Resources Centre, located in LNEG - National Laboratory of Energy and Geology, in the Lumiar campus, Lisbon.
This center aims to encourage the application of life cycle approaches (LCA, ecodesign, labels and environmental product declarations, etc.) in companies with a sectoral perspective (in Portugal, in the construction and renewable energy value chains).
The aim of the Centre is to continue the LCIP activities in the post-project phase, supporting companies in the field of life cycle, in particular SMEs, with training activities, technical support, discussion, counseling, software and other services to meet the needs of businesses, extending the scope to other sectors, particularly those that relate to geological resources, also a central area of LNEG.
A driving factor for these approaches are the environmental management systems according to ISO 14001: 2015 and/or EMAS, which now pose the challenge of strengthening the life cycle component in environmental management.
The event had the participation of international partners from Spain, France and Belgium and national partners, entities that supported the project and companies that have applied and tested the project results.
Also in the session, the LCiP awards Portugal 2016 ceremony distinguished the work done in life cycle approaches by Portuguese professionals and companies. LCiP partners promoted this year the second edition of the LCiP Awards in order to raise awareness and stimulate lifecycle thinking in business and improving the environmental, social and economic impact of products and services.
The LCiP Awards Portugal | 2016 were organized by the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology - LNEG and were structured into two categories:
Category 1: Information and communication of sustainability with a life cycle perspective
